Benzoin: This oil is a great alternative as an inhalant or topically for children and people with fragile respiratory conditions which may be aggravated by camphoraceous oils. The characteristic vanilla aroma is generally agreeable to infants and those who like this sweet aroma. Since vanilla is one of the most widely used and recognized aromas in the world, It is a great substitute to use in place of more expensive and rare vanilla bean oil when a natural fragrance of vanilla is required. It is also known for centuries as a soothing, balsamic effect on inflamed skin with strong anti-inflammatory properties.

Geranium: Heavy, sweet, floral aroma. Geranium oil has a long traditional reputation within the cosmetic industry as a gentle yet effective oil to heal and regenerate skin, particularly with ant ageing, wrinkles, wounds and other serious skin conditions which may include burns, eczema (dry), ringworm, shingles and lice.  It may also be useful for inflamed and sluggish skin types. It’s heavy floral aroma is a favourite of the perfume industry as it provides exotic, euphoric and calming effects when inhaled.

Other historical and documented uses include immune boosting properties, nervine and relief of hormonal imbalances during adolescence and menopause especially when blended with other oils such as lavender, rose or bergamot.  Hence its reputation as “A woman’s oil”.

Juniper Berry: Refreshing, slight fruity, slightly camphoraceous aroma. A very versatile oil which blends well with many oils and can energize a blend.

Orange (Sweet): Vibrant, refreshing citrus aroma. An uplifting and energizing oil. Useful in deodorizing rooms and natural cleaning products. When mixed with borax, it is very useful in laundry detergent and to rid carpets of fleas and other insects.

Peppermint: Light, sharp and refreshing aroma, like menthol with a hint of sweet. The menthol from peppermint is used by many pharmaceutical and OTC companies for topical products which have a deep cooling and analgesic effect for pain and swelling. Peppermint has an internal cooling effect. This is considered by many to be useful in dispelling fevers. Since ants, cockroaches, mice, rats and other pests strongly dislike the odour, it may be an effective alternative to conventional poisons.
