Polysorbate 20 

Polysorbate 20 is a food grade emulsifier and solubilizer commonly used in food, flavour, fragrance, and personal care applications. It's primary purpose is to mix or emulsify oil and water ingredients that typically will not mix on their own. 

Part of a family of polysorbates 20, 60 & 80, this one is best suited to solubilze oil (carrier and essential oils) to make sprays, fragrant waters, and gels.  It can also provide texture enhancement, extend shelf life and prolong fragrant load.  It's unscented so does not interfere with finished aroma.

A safe effective ingredient particularly for those starting out making sprays and other water based products for personal use.  

Use guideline:  Add equal amount of polysorbate 20 to equal amount of essential or carrier oil.  Mix thoroughly and allow to stand for 15 minutes.  Add slowly while stirring to water based ingredients.  More polysorbate can be added for optimal results or to blend thicker oils.  Product may become thicker, turn cloudy or thin out.  Every ingredient will react differently so experimenting with small sample size is advised.
