Extraction: Steam distilled from flowers and stalks

Volatility: Middle note

Colour: Colourless

Aroma: Light, floral, sometimes lightly pungent

Noted Constituents

Esters (18 – 34%) Linalyl acetate (much higher in alpine varieties)

Alcohols: linalool (20 -45%)

Monoterpenes (5-10%): a-pinene, delta-3-carene, camphene

Cautions / Safety Data

Do not use on the skin full strength. Always dilute in appropriate carriers before use. Not for internal use.  If pregnant or suffering from serious medical conditions, consult a qualified health professional, experienced in the use of essential oils.

Useful Information

Is considered to activate other oils and intensify their effect. Generally regarded as the most useful and versatile oil used for therapeutic purposes. Many therapists will say, “when in doubt, use lavender.”
